Picking The Best Sealer Based On Granite Sealer Reviews

Considering the many different granite sealers available to choose from, you can find yourself very confused when it comes to picking a sealer for your new granite countertops. With all of the various products available how are you supposed to pick the best. Reading granite sealer reviews is the best way to get the best product for your needs.

What To Look For In Reviews

In order for the reviews to be useful, you need to know what to look for in them. Reading them is simply not enough, although you can get the gist of whether or not the product works. In order for the review to be useful you will need to find reviews that are more than just two or three sentences long, but also ones that say more than just, “this product is great”.

When looking through granite sealer reviews you want to find the reviews that go into detail. Look for detailed information on how easy the product is to apply and whether any special precautions need to be taken when applying it. Perhaps most importantly you want to look for reviews that have been updated after the product had been in use for a period of time. It is easy to compose a review that says how easy the product went on, but how well the product works is going to take time, look for people who come back and update their review or people who add in how long they have been using the product.

Reviews Of Granite Sealers

Instead of going out and searching through thousands of reviews online, I will provide you with some actual granite sealer reviews. My reviews will provide you with detailed information on some of the best products out there, whether that information is good or bad.

SenGuard Sealers

SenGuard marble & granite sealers are currently one of the best products on the market. SenGuard uses the newest technology in their sealers allowing them to perform better than other products. SenGuard uses tiny molecules that were specially designed for their products through nano-technology to seal the granite. The tiny molecules are able to penetrate deeper into the granite providing better bonding and coverage. Even better is SenGuard offers you a permanent barrier that will repel water and oil, but will also allow your granite to breathe. One thing to keep in mind is that no granite sealer will provide 100% protection against all stains or chemical etching, no matter how good the product is.

One thing that catches people off guard with SenGuard is how small the bottle is for the price. SenGuard is one of the more expensive products on the market, but is worth the investment. You have spent a lot of money on installing the best countertops; now make the same investment in protecting them. Although the bottle is small, it contains enough sealer to cover 50 to 200 square feet, how much depends on how porous the surface is. In fact, just one ounce of SenGuard will cover more area than one ounce of other sealers. Not to mention that SenGuard only requires a single application for long-lasting protection. Compare this cost to having a professional come out and seal your countertops at around $500 and you can see where buying SenGuard provides you with a better deal.

Stone Care Pro – Stone Sentry

This is another great product and can be used to seal all natural stone surfaces, as well as any man-made surfaces, including concrete. Like SenGuard, Stone Care Pro provides a protective barrier to help prevent stains, as long as they are oil or water based. However, like any other impregnating sealer Stone Care Pro will not prevent any chemical etching from acidic spills nor will it work if the wrong cleaning products are used.

Stone Care Pro uses older technology to seal your countertops, but that does not mean it does not work just as well as SenGuard. Both products work to help prevent oil and water based stains, the technology they use to get there is different. Due to the different technology, Stone Care Pro will have to be reapplied at a later date. One of the great things about Stone Care Pros is the price; it is more than 50% cheaper than SenGuard. One quart of Stone Care Pro will protect anywhere from 75 to 375 square feet, depending on porosity. One the other hand many counter tops will need more than one application, with the exception of hone-finished travertine, polished travertine, and polished marble. Most granite will need two applications to properly seal, while more porous counters will need three or more. Before applying another application you will want to test the surface to determine if it is properly sealed, ensuring you do not use more sealant than necessary.

TileLab SurfaceGard Penetrating Sealer

This is a good sealer to use if you are looking for something that you can pick up at your local Home Depot. The sealer comes with a Teflon Surface Protector that offers outstanding protection for your countertops. This is the type of sealer that you will want to use on countertops when they need the most protection, such as kitchens. TileLab SurfaceGard protects against oil and water based stains because it repels the spills, and it makes clean up a breeze. Even better is that this can be used to seal more than just countertops, it can also be used as a grout release before grouting your tile floors.

Each pint will cover 25 to 50 square feet on porous surfaces or 100 to 150 square feet on denser surfaces. The drawback to this granite sealer is that more than one application will be needed to offer maximum protection. The sealer will protect your countertops for several years, but a sealant test should be conducted every few years to determine if new sealant needs to be applied.

Black Diamond GP QT Granite Plus! Cleaner and Sealer

No matter what sealer you purchase, you have to clean your countertops before sealing them. Failure to clean the countertops traps dirt and stains beneath the sealer so your counters do not look their best. Black Diamond has created a cleaner that not only cleans your countertops, but seals them as well, all without having to use two separate products. The cleaner is a neutral cleaner that combines the NEX-GEN granite sealer made by Black Diamond. Even better is that every time you clean your countertops you will improve the performance of the sealer. The only drawback to this product is that you should use a regular sealer before using this product for best results.

Black Diamond NG PT Nex-Gen Stone Sealer

This sealer can be used on a variety of different surfaces to seal them, including grout. This sealer bonds with the surface to help keep out any oil or water based stains. Rather than allowing the spills to soak into the stone or grout, the sealer forms a barrier to keep the liquid out. One 16-ounce bottle should allow for two applications in an average sized kitchen. Even better is how easy it is to use, simply spray it on, allow to sit for about 3 minutes and then wipe off any excess with a dry towel. Sealer will completely dry in two to five hours.

I hope this information has helped you to make up your mind as to what would be the best sealer for your application. If you choose a good product you won’t have to redo it again for many years.
