Concrete Floor Finishes Can Improve Your Property

Concrete floor finishes can give you the perfect floor. Concrete makes wonderful floors. No matter how much water or other fluids are spilled, it does not rot. It is not flammable and there is no worry about termites in this rock solid surface. It is known to outlast most any other type of material. However, it can look rather boring with always being the same dingy gray color. The surface may start to turn powdery and make dangerous dust. It can become porous on the top, making a trap for dust and mud that is hard to sweep and mop. In addition, this is not always a comfortable place to walk.

A finisher can give you all the advantages of such a strong floor, without all the disadvantages. Which type you choose can be determined by what you want and/or need. Some will change the color, some will make it smooth, and other types will make it like new again. You can find some that make it look like marble tile and be as easy to sweep and mop. It can even look like wood, but without attracting termites. Some types will make more than one type of improvement.

This Is The Only Finish You Need

For making new or old slabs more interesting and attractive, there is chemical staining. This will react with the lime content of the concrete and make it colorful. The new color should last as long as the concrete; however, the results can be a little unpredictable. The condition and environment of the cement may influence the results. It still usually makes it more attractive, and may make it look like marble. Unfortunately, it does not cover cracks or patches, and it would be a good idea to fill these damaged places first. It is usually necessary to add sealers and/or wax after it dries. The waxes and sealers also make for a smoother, waterproof surface. Scoring can give it very a unique and colorful look. With this, one cuts shallow lines to make patterns, which can be made different colors. This would likely require a professional with proper equipment.

When looking at Concrete floor finishes, you need to consider where you need it and how strong you need it. If you are wanting to make your garage stronger, but do not care about the looks, you want to look for a type that can withstand chemical spills and possibly rapidly spinning tires. You can get types that will give your garage a show room finish, which may not be as tough. Some kinds are just for indoor use, and would not be as strong, but are often more decorative. Most can be applied by the average homeowner and many are just painted on like regular paint. There are different ways to apply different kinds of wax, and some require a buffer. Comparing prices, reviews, and the item details, can help you find the right kind for your property.
