Coloring Your Epoxy Garage Floor Coating
Getting your garage floor to look the way you want it to does not have to be a hassle. This is because there are numerous options available in garage floor coatings, making it possible to customize your garage floor just as you would any other flooring surface in your home. Garage floors are a bit different when it comes to applying and installing, since they are all 100% epoxy based. This makes for a smooth spread that is second to none, providing good coverage and hiding any imperfections in your concrete.
Garage floor coatings come in two major different types. The first is epoxy coating with acrylic paint chips thrown in. This durable floor will have your garage looking great and standing up to the test of time. It is also a great patchwork flooring, if you have problem areas in your garage. The acrylic pant in the epoxy can be just about any color, so you can match your home well with this style of garage floor coating.
The second most popular style, which in my opinion is the best garage floor coating, is the quartz flooring. Once again, this is another style of epoxy flooring, but this contains quartz flakes instead of acrylic paint flakes. Since the quartz is much harder than acrylic paint, once the coating is laid down, it is much more impact resistant than what you would get if were to use the acrylic paint option. If you have shelving in your garage and you are afraid of chipping your brand new coating, or you often drop things or have high impacts in your garage, this type of coating is probably best for your situation.
No matter what style of garage floor epoxy coating you choose, making a conscious effort to improve your garage is a step in the right direction. This is beneficial for many reasons, but the main reason is that you will enjoy your garage more. When you have flooring that you like that matches the rest of your home, you are more apt to take care of it and cherish it more. The second reason this is a great idea is the raised property value, should you ever decide to sell your home. Epoxy garage floor coatings are a fair luxury item and homes that have them often receive higher bids than homes that do not, which gives you more flexibility in your asking price when compared with other homes in your neighborhood on the market.
With so many great reasons to choose a garage floor coating for your home, you may be wondering if it is a do-it-yourself job. It can be, if you are versed in spreading epoxy or other material such as caulk or concrete. You can buy all the tools you would need at a home improvement center, as well as receive tips to guide you through the process. The quikrete epoxy garage floor coating system is very easy to use for the home handyman. Spreading the epoxy is a weekend job, but you will need to let it dry which means you will not have access to your garage for usually a couple of days after you are finished. It is often times set up in six hours and then hard within 18 but you really want to wait a few days to give it ample time to cure. You also must be sure to not let it freeze or get wet during this time as that will affect the strength.
